Sense and design, given weight

As clothing is something we experience and register with the whole body, so is jewellery – deepening and adding to our perception. This very idea is where designer and goldsmith Maria Kobelova begins her jewellery designs in her Prague studio. A refined organic vocabulary of abstract shapes – graceful, pleasant to touch – embodies emotion and lived experience rather than literal symbols, and leaves the wearer room to see themselves in the piece.

Single moments of life find their way into earrings, bracelets, necklaces, brooches, and rings, including engagement and wedding rings. Within each collection, the pieces are held together by shared aesthetic approaches and motifs: visual as well as those of meaning.

Maria all but sculpts the defining forms in wax. She builds them on the presence of the shape itself – on its volume and its curves. Each creation then receives the same attention, whether the wax turns into silver, 14k yellow, rose, or white gold, or 18k gold upon request. Where a stone enters the design, it becomes a living part of the whole. Maria stays with each piece through to finishing and pays attention to the harmony of its curves.

Bespoke pieces carry the same authorial hand as the collections. For those seeking a one-of-a-kind piece of their own, our studio in Vinohrady, Prague, warmly welcomes visits by appointment.
